Apocalyptic Fashion

Ok, so lets say the world really does end tomorrow, what will the left behind be wearing in the post raptured world? If I happen to not be on JC’s V.I.P. list, (GOD forbid) I just hope I’m fortunate enough to stumble upon theses Gareth Pugh Gold booties, from his Pitti Immagine 2011 collection. Recently worn by Beyonce, in her latest video “Run the World (Girls)”, where Lady “B” also rocks a killer gold sequins dress which is also Pugh.

Another pop diva I’d be taking fashion ques from would be, Britney Spears, only because it’d be end of the world, which would mean, I ‘d have more confidence to rock the ripped bra and pantie look. Well take a look at their video’s below and tell me what you think. Hopefully we’ll meet again, but if not, do like Britney and “keep dancing till the world ends”

Incognito

Dylan Reynolds is not you typical model; he doesn’t fit the “dumb model” stereotype. In fact he quite the opposite, this past December, Dylan was accepted in to the Harvard Law School. After receiving a degree form University of California in Berkeley, he graduated with a perfect 4.0. “I had NO social life, its been at least one year since I’ve been on a date” Dylan always knew he wanted to be a lawyer, but wasn’t always sure how he was going to pay for school. Growing up with a single mom, money was tight, and as a young teen growing up in the trendy Bay Area, his expensive taste in clothes and entertainment was more of a curse than redeeming quality. When he was 15, he was approached in a Target by a model scout who encouraged him to come to an open call where the agency was looking for male teens. After convincing his mother to let him go, he finally went, unfortunately he wasn’t what they were looking for, or so he thought. Two days after the open call he got a call from one of the agents where they needed a model last minute for a Mervyn’s shoot. “I remember making $300 that day, after that it clicked that this modeling thing is my way to getting extra cash for things I wanna do”. Now 25 Dylan has been doing modeling off and on, besides interning in law offices, he’s been able to pay for a good chunk of school. “The less debt the better…”

For the shoot I wanted to dress Dylan in fall inspired clothing. Because he doesn’t look like the typical law student, I wanted the styling to be an exaggerated look of a “school boy nerd”

Random Thought: Anthropologie

One of my favorite stores that hits it on the nose, in terms of marketing, is Anthropologie. Their store is set-up in an inviting way, it makes you want to come in and if not spend, defiantly browse. I’m a fan of their home products like, candles and the endless supply of random door knobs. Their catalogs are put together really well, giving the viewer an exciting experience. I feel that this store speaks to me because it’s a trendy and upbeat store that offers a wide variety where I would be sure to find one of a kind pieces.

Perfection is the V-Neck White Tee!

You know how “they” say every women should have the staple “Little Black Dress” in their closet? While this is true, for me my staple piece is the perfect “V-neck White Tee”. It’s the easiest item to convert into whatever you want, like from day to night. (as corny as that may sound)

I have this paticular one from J.Crew thats so soft I never wanna take it off. I even ended up buying two more for next spring and summer, just in case they wouldn’t be selling them anymore.

Heres a few pics from Google showing how other women wear their white tee.

Fashion 2.0 and “The Future of Fashion”

As an aspiring fashion journalist, I’ve recognized that the ways of traditional journalism, writing and reporting, has somewhat began to fade away and making more room for the instant/ speedy news reporting. So after watching the short film piece called Fashion 2.0 which featured Suzy Menkes and a lot of other influential fashion journalist and bloggers, I knew i was on the right track with having a blog of my own and giving myself a platform to voice my opinions on everything fashion. After reading “The Future of Fashion” on Style.com I felt inspired by the fashion insiders featured in this subject. It was confirmation that you don’t have to fear change but roll along with it, embrace change.

Ready or Not, Here We Go…

It’s that time of  year again, “Back to School” season. Now, I don’t mean for the little young in’s but I mean for us, the “20 somethings” getting ready to jump back into the swing of things, transitioning from the blissful summer to the very optimistic fall. And with back to school season, this means new clothes for us “20 somethings”. Here are a few fall trends I’ll be selectively adding to my wardrobe.

One of the big trends coming this fall is "exotic skins", so I found this affordable bag at Urban Outfitters for just $68.

Color! I don't know about you but I tend to shy away from bold colors soon as fall and winter hit so this year I'm gonna try and switch it up!

Taking a little tip from the guys, I plan on getting a nice tailored suit!

So there you go, a little view into what fall 2010 trends I’ll try and apply to myself. I’d like to know what trends you think you might play around with this season. Leave a comment below!

Girl Crush

Gorgeous actress Kerry Washington gets my vote for Best Dressed Celebrity. She’s come a long way from the days of Save the Last Dance, since then she has transformed into a beautiful Hollywood A-lister. From her hair styles, to the shoes, when she’s on the red carpet she never misses a beat.

Why They’re Fab: Oscar de la Renta

The first time I truly learned about Oscar de la Renta was when I helped my grandmother pack some things that where to go in to storage. And as we are working on her closet she pulls out this beige garment bag, un-zips it and out she pulls this ornate floral cocktail gown. At this time I’m 8 and still very much into dress up, graciously my grandmother lets me try it on. To make a long story short. I helped finish packing in that gown, because I felt too much like a Princess to take it off.

Thats what I believe Oscar de la Renta’s pieces do to you, and I can say that because I have experienced this first hand. Oscar de la Renta’s first break into the fashion industry was getting an apprenticeship with Spain’s renowned couturier Cristobal Balenciaga. He later moved to Paris and worked for the House of Lanvin, eventually moving to New York in 1963, and after working for Elizabeth Arden, he would launch his own line that is now considered to be the premiere of all American fashion.

Here are a few pics of his Pre-Fall 2010 collection

The Obssesion

2009 is coming to an end and lots of people are making their list on who’s had the biggest impact on pop culture. I’m going to go and say hands down its Lady Gaga. No one has ever made an impact the way she has as a new artist. Even when some of her fashion choices were a bit questionable she used it as a way to keep us looking and sometimes wanting more. Musically, she on a whole other level of different, she isn’t following the rules even if the music is considered pop. I mean you know she’s a big star if my grandmother is going around singing Pokerface while getting ready for her casino night with all her gals.
